Vladimir Putin was seen across the cameras discussing a "complex international problem" with Wang at a long table, per CNN.
Russia's head of state praised the "new milestones" reached between Moscow and Beijing during the meeting with the senior Chinese official.
Vladimir Putin noted that Russia-China ties "are developing as we planned in previous years. Everything is moving forward and developing, and we are reaching new milestones."
Wang Yi pledges that the Russia -China relations would not yield to external pressure, according to the BBC.
Wang Yi adds in a friendly tone that China is eager to enhance its collaboration with Russia's Moscow for the benefit of both nations and the globe.
Russia-China Relationship Remains Strong Amid Pressure From West
Wang's Russia visit indicates Beijing's ongoing alignment with Moscow. It occurs in the days leading up to the first anniversary of Russia-Ukraine war and in the aftermath of the US shooting down a suspected Chinese spy balloon, according to Nikkei Asia.
Beijing has declined to denounce Moscow for its continued aggression in the Russia Ukraine war and has instead repeated Kremlin's allegations that NATO sparked the conflict.
The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Wang Yi follows an announcement by US President Joe Biden that he would meet with NATO officials on the alliance's eastern border to discuss security.
Biden on Wednesday will meet with leaders of the Bucharest Nine, a group of NATO member states that joined after once being under Russian control, per a previous HNGN report.
