Missouri state troopers reported many people were hurt or killed early Wednesday morning as a powerful tornado ripped across rural areas.

Doppler radar suggested an EF-2 to EF-3 tornado was probably active between the Missouri villages of Glenallen and Marble Hill at about 3:45 a.m. CDT, according to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, per Fox News.

When the apparent tornado demolished houses and businesses in Glenallen, storm tracker Brandon Clement of Live Storms Media gave a preliminary account of the damage.

According to Clement, "the whole area has a lot of trees down," electricity lines down, several roofs gone, and many trailers ruined.

According to a CNN report, highway Patrol Sgt. Clark Parrott said several fatalities and injuries had been recorded after a probable tornado hit Bollinger County, Missouri.

According to Parrott on Wednesday morning, reports are still coming in, and the exact number of fatalities is not yet determined as of present writing.

He also stated that authorities are conducting an "active search and rescue event."

Parrott added that resources are being provided to local authorities around southeast Missouri.

Latest Missouri Tornado Brings More Misery

The highway patrol reported potential tornado damage, wreckage, and injuries in Bollinger County, southeast of Grassy and Marble Hill.

The tornado incident followed an extreme weather event in which at least a dozen tornadoes killed at least 33 people. Hence, according to CBS, individuals whose houses were devastated in Arkansas, Iowa, and Illinois may experience much more suffering.

When the system moved through Arkansas and into the South, Midwest, and Northeast, the violent storms that began last Friday and persisted over the weekend produced devastating tornadoes in 11 states.
