Transgender school shooter Audrey Hale had a death wish when he carried out last year's fatal attack at a Tennessee Christian academy.
Hale, who later went by the name Aiden at the time of his death, shot and killed six people, including three elementary school children and three staff members, at the Covenant School in Nashville in March 2023.
Hale was killed by responding officers.
In a newly revealed manifesto, Hale wrote he wished "death on myself," blaming politicians and his gender at birth.
"So now in America, it makes one a criminal to have a gun or, be transgender, or non-binary. God I hate those sh--head politicians," Hale wrote in a journal entry dated Feb. 20, according to the Tennessee Star, which obtained a copy of the manifesto.
"So now [because] of you, I wish death on myself cause of the pure hatred of my female gender," he claimed.
Hale made a final journal entry the day of the massacre, referring to March 27 as "Death Day."
"The day has finally come. I can't believe it's here. Don't know how I was able to get this far, but here I am," the shooter wrote. "There were several times I could have been caught, especially back in the summer of 2021."
According to NBC News, Hale may have felt a sense of "resentment" against the school he previously attended. Authorities determined the shooting was carefully planned after they discovered detailed maps and Hale's secret manifesto.
Hale wrote the attack "might be 10 minutes tops. It might be 3-7. It's gunna [sic] go quick," in pages obtained by the Louder With Crowder talk show.
"I hope I have a high death count," he wrote.
