Former President Donald Trump on Saturday publicly floated a plan for a "migrant league of fighters" whose No. 1 would face off against the "regular" champion of mixed martial arts.

Trump got scattered laughs and a whoop from the Faith & Freedom Coalition's "Road to Majority" conference when he said he shared the suggestion with Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship league.

"I said, 'Dana, I have an idea. Why don't you set up a migrant league of fighters and have your regular league of fighters and then you have the champion of your league — these are the greatest fighters in the world — fight the champion of the migrants,'" he said in a video clip posted on X.

Trump added: "I think the migrant guy might win. That's how tough they are."

White "didn't like that idea too much," Trump said.

"But actually, it's not the worst idea I've ever had," Trump added to more laughter from the audience.

He didn't share details of his vision, including which migrants could participate in the "league," and how they would differ from "regular" champions.

Trump's keynote speech during the annual event for conservative Christian activists in Washington, D.C., also featured the presumptive Republican presidential nominee repeating his pledge to abolish the federal Education Department if he defeats President Joe Biden in November.

"We will move everything back to the states, where it belongs and where they can individualize education with the love for their children," he said to cheers and applause.

Trump said that "40 of the 50 states will do much better, and I'll bet you 30 of the states will be phenomenal."

Trump then invoked the education system in Norway, widely considered among the most socialist countries in the world.

"It'll be like, beautiful. It will be like Norway. You know, Norway has a great education system," he said.
