Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and fiancée Rebecca Liddicoat are getting married this summer.

Griffin's mother, Jackie, revealed Liddicoat and her son are set to marry over the summer, according to the Washington Post. Jackie said it's typical of her son not to break the news himself.

"You would never know, based on his press conferences and everything he does in the media, but he still has that shyness to him and that quietness to him," Jackie said. "He loves being at home, quiet and to himself. That hasn't changed."

Liddicoat and Griffin have dated since their days at Baylor University. The couple has been engaged since 2010. The 23-year old Griffin, was on the "Jay Leno Show" last May and shared the details of his proposal to Liddicoat.

"I tried to trick her by saying that we were going to do something that the whole team was going to do at the (facility) after we won. No one was there when we showed up, but she still believed me," he said. "Had a guy in there playing guitar; I sung her a song; had candles in the middle of the field with her family and my family holding them. ... Had to do it the right way."

After revealing her son's upcoming marriage, Jackie took time to tell about pregame tradition her son does.

"I wouldn't call it a ritual, but we do talk before the games," she said. "I also text him, and I always text him a scripture or something - whatever the Lord lays on my heart - to let him know that this is just another battle and you're gonna [sic] do this with God's help. And it works for us."

Griffin, the 2012 NFL Rookie of the Year, is recovering from knee surgery. He's expected to be ready to play by Week 1 this season.
