NBA commissioner Adam Silver is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday regarding the league's investigation into the racist comments purportedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. The presser begins at 2 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream below.

Silver is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday about the fate of Sterling, who came under fire after an audiotape purportedly of him making racist comments leaked. Because the NBA constitution is unavailable to the public, it's uncertain what discipline Sterling faces.

One option may be removing Sterling from ownership, according to Adrian Wajnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

"Several league officials -- including owners and Board of Governors members -- told Yahoo Sports they believe Silver has been studying the nuclear option on Sterling: a provision in the NBA's bylaws that would allow Silver to summon a vote of league owners to strip Sterling of his ownership," Wojnarowski wrote on Tuesday. "The NBA would run the Clippers until the team could be sold."

If Silver decides to go light on Sterling, which is unlikely, Sterling could face a one-year suspension, a $1 million fine with mandated counseling, or a combination of the two.

Wojnarowski also pointed out Sterling's background as a lawyer. If the NBA tries to strip Sterling of his ownership, a Yahoo Sports source anticipates Sterling would take the battle to court and drag out the process for as long as possible.

If the Clippers franchise does go on sale, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson is expected to make a bid for the team.
