After almost two years of marriage, Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood have decided to call it quits, Us Weekly reported.

A representative for the couple confirmed the separation on Wednesday in an exclusive statement: "Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell have decided to separate. They both love and respect one another and will of course remain committed to co-parenting their son. This is a mutual decision and the two remain close friends."

A source told Us Weekly that "They love each other so much but it just wasn't right."

Wood, 26, and Bell, 28, married in October 2012. The couple reportedly met on the set of Green Day's 2004 music video "Wake Me up When September Ends". They split in 2006, but rekindled their romance in 2011.

Last July, the pair welcomed their son, whose name was never revealed.

"Evan you are my warrior! You never cease to amaze. Thank you for birthing our son so naturally & peacefully. You did it!" Bell tweeted at the time.

In April, Bell, who is set to star in the "Fantastic Four" remake, spoke to ABC News about how fatherhood has changed his life.

"I am very blessed. I have a healthy son, I have a great wife, I have a good job. I'm living the dream in a lot of ways," Bell told ABC. "I don't really put myself first anymore. As soon as that kid comes out, you waive that right. Everything you do, every decision you make, you are thinking 5, 10 years down the line. A lot of stuff doesn't mean that much anymore. Things affect me less; I'm much calmer than I used to be."

While filming "Charlie Countryman" in NYC, Wood opened up about being a first time mother and dealing with a hectic work schedule.

"I've been having separation anxiety because I'm so used to him being right here all the time," Wood told Us Weekly last November. "They kind of become a part of you... It was my dream to be a mom, so I'm loving it. I love it."

Wood added: "He's smiling and laughing. He started rolling over. He's grabbing things. You know, he's making oohs and aahs."
