What a ghoul!

An unemployed British man was arrested in April and later fined for pretending to be a ghost near mourners at a grave, The Portsmouth News reported.

Prosecuting attorney Tim Concannon said 24-year-old Anthony Stallard, who was drunk at the time, started "throwing himself backwards, waving his arms about and going "woooooooh," while a family was paying their respects nearby. "I'm assuming he was pretending to be a ghost," Concannon said.

Before his ghostly behavior, Stallard and a friend were seen kicking a ball around near the graves.

"While football was going on, this defendant was effectively singing loudly and being disrespectful among the graves," Concannon said.

Police arrested Stallard and charged him with using threatening of abusive words or behavior likely to cause stress, according to Daily Mail U.K.

Stallard was fined a not-so-scary $58 after he pled guilty and has been ordered to pay another $70 in victim surcharge and court costs, according to the NY Daily News. He was also given a 12-month suspended prison sentence.

Stallard pleaded guilty and said through his attorney that he regrets his actions.

"He has accepted that his behavior, if it had been outside of a cemetery, would not have been inappropriate, but inside a cemetery while people are grieving for their loved ones, might be," defense attorney Denise Saunder told Portsmouth News. "He is apologetic, as demonstrated by his early guilty plea."
