Allison Williams didn't need pixie dust to help her take flight as Peter Pan. She practiced her flying techniques for the first time Tuesday using a system of pulleys and wires.

The "Girls'" actress will star as the boy who never grew up in NBC's "Peter Pan Live," which airs on Thursday, Dec. 4 p.m. NBC.

Wiilams posted a short Instagram video of her first flying lesson and saved the caption to honor another great cinematic Peter Pan.

"First day of flying lessons for Pan. Thinking about and missing a hero of mine who once did this and left big shoes to fill," Williams wrote in reference to Robin Williams. The late actor, found dead on Aug. 11, played a grown up version of Peter in the 1991 film "Hook," directed by Steven Spielberg.

Allison admitted after NBC casted her that she dreamed of playing the title role since childhood

"Thrilled to be playing Peter Pan live on NBC in December," she wrote on Instagram with an old photo of her dressed as the J.M. Barrie character. "I've been rehearsing for a REALLY long time."

Her father Brian Williams confirmed that fact during his "NBC Nightly News" telecast on July 30.

"Family members confirm that she's been rehearsing for this role since the age of three and they look forward to seeing her fly," he said on-air.

Christopher Walken will play Peter Pan's archenemy Captain Hook in the live TV production. NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt called the actor "a song and dance man at heart," when he announced his casting at the Television Critics Association press tour in July.

"He's fearless as a comedic actor and always comes to play. I guarantee you he's going to bring his own spin to Captain Hook. He might be the first tap-dancing Captain Hook," Greenblatt said.

"Smash" star Christian Borle will play both Smee and Mr. Darling. NBC has yet to cast the rest of the roles.
