If you're only celebrating Labor Day this weekend, you're doing it wrong.

Today people around the world are eating bacon in observance of International Bacon Day.

Of course a day dedicated to the consumption of dried up pork meat cured in salt started in America in 2000. Last year, bacon consumption increased from the previous year by six percent (1.1 billion servings), according to CNN.

"We're not just eating more bacon, we're also making better bacon," CNN reports.

And that is another of the many ways International Bacon Day is celebrated - by sharing dishes with bacon. Bacon is consumed on this day in all of its mouth watering forms, whether it's grilled, fried, boiled, baked, or cut up and used as a topping.

In some areas there are cook-offs and festivals. Some get really into it and combine bacon with foods it's not traditionally combined with such as sundaes and cocktails.
