A Florida man admitted to killing three family members on Friday and attempting to shoot a fourth before a passing truck ran him over, The New York Daily News reported.

George Mason III, 42, was hit in the middle of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Brooksville as he chased his half-brother, Gabriel Taylor, 33.

Taylor was shot several times, including once in the head, and remains in critical condition. Police reported Mason hasn't yet revealed much about the incident; he suffered two broken legs, a broken back and broken neck.

The scene broke out just before 9 p.m. on Friday, when Mason killed his 81-year-old grandmother Jannie Taylor, and his brother Ralph Peyton, 29, inside a home about 50 miles north of Tampa. He then shot and killed Tarasha Townsend, 37, who is the mother of his two children, when she approached the home to find out what the noise was about.

"He didn't have to kill them people like that, he didn't have to kill that lady, he didn't have to kill none of them. They're all family," Linda Stanley told WTSP. Stanley lives two houses down from where Brooksville Police say George Mason III shot and killed three people.

Taylor then took off with Mason following him, shooting continuously. He hit his mark several times before a driver hit Mason some 300 yards away from the home.

Mason was taken into custody after admitting to paramedics and police that he had committed the shootings. He has been arrested previously on assault and drug charges. He faces three murder charges and an attempted murder charge.

"He was crazy as hell. He's been crazy all his life," neighbor Charles Townsend told WFLA-TV about the suspect.
