Apple's new iPhone 6 plus is facing a unique problem- that of going out of shape. Some owners have reported bent phones after carrying the devices in their pockets.

Some owners of iPhone 6 Plus say that the gadget has lost shape and slightly bent with usage.

Apple's experiment with a large screen has clearly some issues to smooth over. Amid record-setting sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the U.S. and other markets, reports have surfaced online that show bent iPhone devices. The problem is seen with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and most probably caused due to carrying the device in the front pocket while sitting for long hours, Mashable reports.

Apple hasn't yet reacted but it is likely that the device's large size, thin profile and aluminum body has a major role to play. Owners of bent devices have posted photos on Apple forums and on social media sites. On Twitter, a new profile "Bend-Gate-o-Rade" has been created that shows a small but growing number of users reporting the error.

An iPhone 6 Plus owner reported on MacRumors' forums how his new, pricey gadget was found bent after just 18 hours.

"Yesterday, I left at 10am with the iPhone in my left FRONT pocket of my suit pants," iPhone 6 Plus users identified as @hanzoh wrote. "I drove 4 hours to a wedding, which also involved a lot of sitting during dinner etc but also 2-3 hours of dancing. I left at 2am and went to bed, driving home 4 hours back. So in total, the 6 Plus was about 18 hours in my pocket while sitting mostly."

"As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again ), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhones slightly distorted," @hanzoh added.

The iPhone 6 Plus measures only 7.1mm and is made of aluminum, which is a soft, bendable metal. Carrying the gadget in the front pockets of pants exposes it to slight pressure while sitting etc and it is possible that it loses shape and gets bent. Most phones are found to be bent toward the volume keys.

This issue hasn't affected the function of the device but it can be a huge bummer for the iPhone 6 sales ahead of its much-anticipated debut in different countries.
