If it weren't for a team of Fort Worth firefighters, one frog would have really croaked.
Firefighters were dispatched Wednesday on a call reporting a housefire in Westworth Village while the family was out of town. They didn't have any people to rescue, but they did manage to go inside and save the family's frog.
"Firefighters conducted a search but found that the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire," Lt. Carol Jones, a fire department spokeswoman, said in a news release. "A family member who later arrived explained that the owners were actually out of state and then inquired about the family pet."
The Fort Worth firefighters say they rescue pets such as cats and dogs all the time, but they claim this is the first frog they saved from a fire, Battalion Chief Richard Harrison tells The Associated Press.
The fire is believed to have started in a boat parked in the driveway next to the home, before spreading quickly to the home's attic, reports Forth Worth Star-Telegram. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The damages to the property are estimated to total up to $60,000.
