Owners of bent iPhone 6s and 6 Plus's may find relief in Apple's offer to take their devices to the Genius Bar for a chance to have them replaced.

Despite the attention that the design flaw has received in recent days, the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant claims the issue is "extremely rare" and that it has only received nine complaints about the flaw, according to The Verge.

The recommendation to have Apple's Genius specialists look at bent iPhones was made by Phil Schiller, senior VP of worldwide marketing at Apple, who introduced the two new devices earlier this month.

"As we expected, it's extremely rare to happen in real world use," Schiller said. "In this case, as in many things, we tell customers that if you think something's occurred that shouldn't have with your device, go to AppleCare, go to the Genius Bar, and let them take a look at it. And we'll see if your product is having an experience it shouldn't have, and is covered under warranty."

An Apple support representative told The Next Web that whether or not a bent iPhone is covered by the company's warranty "is 100 percent up to the Genius you speak with at the store." The rep added that the device has to pass a test called a Visual Mechanical Inspection for it to be covered, and that the owner will have to pay for a new iPhone if it doesn't pass.

The company's support team said it is "looking into this with an insane amount of detail."

The media has been focusing a great deal on the bending problem since the release of a video showing a man bending his iPhone 6 Plus with his hands, The Huffington Post reported. Whether or not this issue affects a large amount of iPhone owners has yet to be determined.

Apple's proposed solution follows a week after it made the iPhone 6 available in U.S. stores. Those who are confident in Apple's new device can buy the $299 two-year contract version or the $749 contract-free version.
