Carrier Underwood says if she can just be a little like her "wonderful mother," she'll be a great mom to her on-the-way first child.

With her baby bump dressed in a curve-hugging LBD, the country superstar appeared on NBC's "Today" Friday (Sept. 26). While on the show, she opened up for the first time about what it feels like to be expecting her first child with her NHL hockey star husband Mike Fisher.

The singer confessed that she'll often look at her pro athlete husband and say, "'I'm gonna be a mom. You're gonna be a dad.' It's like, is this real life?" Underwood commented. "But we're really excited."

She's excited about having a baby, but is she ready?

"I have a wonderful mother so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think that we'll be good," the "American Idol" winner assured, reports eoline.com.

She added that she thinks it's "weird" that she's pregnant. Weird in a good way.

Underwood, 31, announced her pregnancy via Instagram earlier this month.

The songstress will sing live during Global Citizen Festival concert in New York City's Central Park Sept. 27. Previously announced performers include Fun., Jay Z, No Doubt, The Roots, Sting and Tiësto.

The country singer made another big announcement on "Today"-she releasing a greatest hits album Dec. 9. She even played a sneak peek song for Hoda Kotb. "The song is called 'Something in the Water,'´explained the singer. "It's very uplifting."

According to Underwood, "Something in the Water" is "about changing your life for the better and having that 'aha moment' to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward."

Isn't that is what is about to happen to the country star herself in real life? When her baby comes into the world, Underwood will have an "aha moment" and her life will be different from that moment forward.
