Indian Singer KJ Yesudas: 'Women Shouldn't Wear Jeans'

Famous Indian singer KJ Yesudas received backlash immediately after he said women should not wear jeans because it goes against Indian culture.

"Women shouldn't wear jeans and display themselves before people. What is meant to be covered should be covered. Wearing jeans and roaming around attracts unnecessary attention. We must respect religious doctrines. Women's beauty is in their soberness, they should not become like men," the 74-year-old National Award-winning singer reportedly said at a function on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday.

Just moments after his comment activists from the Kerala unit of the Congress' women's wing began protesting in a march outside the state secretariat in the city.

He also received a lot of backlash on Twitter:
