In Carrie Underwood's new single, "Something in the Water," the country superstar sings about baptism and being "washed in the blood." The song, co-written by Underwood, describes someone who reaches a desperate situation and realizes that they need God for salvation.

"It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and kind of having that 'a-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward," the singer said during a recent appearance on the "Today" show.

Underwood, who kicked off her meteoric musical career with the mega-hit "Jesus Take the Wheel," has never shied away from publicly expressing her deep Christian faith, and "Something in the Water" is a perfect example, notes Taste of Country.

The song talks about the importance of baptism and conversion as means to changing your life: "There's somebody saying what I'm saying to you / Opened my eyes and told me truth / He said just a little faith and it'll all get better / So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed / And now I'm stronger."

The song ends with Underwood singing a portion of "Amazing Grace."

The song was written by Underwood, Chris DeStefano and Brett James, according to directlyrics.com. Her vocals in the chorus of the song are mind-blowing.

"Something in the Water" will appear on Underwood's upcoming "Greatest Hits: Decade #1," which is set for release on Dec. 9.

According to reports from The Blaze, Underwood has a message for those who are opposing her lyrics, and its coming through loud and clear.

"Country music is different," Underwood announced. "You have that Bible Belt-ness about it. I'm not the first person to sing about God, Jesus, faith, or any of that, and I won't be the last. And it won't be the last for me, either. If you don't like it, change the channel."
