"Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland has been granted a three-year restraining order against her ex Matt Prokop, after he allegedly choked and threatened her.
Prokop must stay 100 yards away from Hyland and her home, Us weekly reported. He is also not allowed to go near her "job or workplace and own or possess a gun or ammunition."
The protection order also extends to the actress' dog, Barkley Bixby, and Prokop cannot "make any threats, or attack, or harm the dog in any way."
In September, the young actress obtained a temporary restraining order against her former boyfriend of five years, claiming that Prokop verbally abused her, choked her and threatened her during their relationship, which ended in August.
"Mr. Prokop grabbed me by the shoulders and slammed my back into the side of my car," the document stated. "He placed both of his hands around my throat and began to choke me. His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak."
Hyland claimed that Prokop "relentlessly bombarded [her] with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voicemails including his own suicide threats."
Prokop threatened to burn Hyland's house down and revealed his intentions to harm her dog. The court documents also stated that Prokop had a recent stint in rehab. He has not been criminally charged for the claims made by his ex-girlfriend.
Lee A. Sherman, Hyland's attorney, released a statement on behalf of her rep:
"On September 19, 2014, Ms. Hyland obtained a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order against Matthew Prokop. The documents filed speak for themselves. Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter. We request that you respect the parties' privacy during this time."
Prokop co-starred with Hyland in the TV movie "Geek Charming," and has also appeared in "High School Musical 3."
