Jason had a lot of fun - and helped a lot people - in Detroit Saturday night (Oct. 11).

The country star capped off the release week of his new "Old Boots, New Dirt" album with his 9th Annual Concert for the Cure, reports All Access. The show was another stop on his Burn It Down Tour.

Each year, Aldean selects a city at random from his October tour stop schedule and donates the night's ticket proceeds to the local Susan G. Komen Foundation chapter to fund breast cancer research, screening, treatment and education. This year, it was for Detroit.

He tweeted out the news Saturday afternoon.

"We always try and have a lot of fun with our Komen show each year. It isn't just about raising money to help find a cure, it's also about celebrating everyone who is going through treatment now and those who've been able to beat the disease," Aldean said. "I think it is a great way to end release week in an area of the country that could use a little help."

After playing a song, the stage went black and a video of Robin Roberts interviewing Aldean played on the screen. The interview told why Aldean starting doing his Concert for the Cure. It happened after a family friend died from breast cancer, according to ABC affiliate WXYZ.

Next, Aldean appeared on-stage with a check, and started talking to the crowd.

"I think he first year we ever did this, we were excited because we raised $30,000 for the Susan G. Komen Nashville chapter," Aldean told the crowd.

He then went on to describe what the money will be used for. He said it's for mammograms, and breast cancer awareness in general.

Then he told the crowd the great news.

"I couldn't be prouder than I am right now to donate this check to Susan G. Komen, to the Detroit chapter, for $660,000," Aldean said to thousands of cheers.
