Animal-inspired tech continues to make its way into the market with the debut of the Axent Wear headphones, which come in the form of glowing cat ears.

While Axent Wear hasn't revealed any breakthrough in audio technology achieved with the new headphones, or if they are receiving support from any big audio company, the headwear may be fun for people who want to look like a cat while they listen to music, according to SlashGear.

The cat ears also serve as external speakers, featuring 40 mm drivers and providing a range of 20 Hz to 20 KHz in frequency response.

The headphones light up, thanks to installed LED rings that light up in several different colors, Discovery News reported. Additional features of the headphones include a microphone, a USB charger and a 3.5-mm jack that the user can remove and replace if it gets damaged.

Victoria Hu, recent University of California Berkeley graduate and co-founder of Axent Wear, said she and co-founder Wenqing Yan made changes to the headphones based on feedback they received through social media.

"One of the things that we ended up changing, through feedback from our friends on Facebook, was they wanted bigger cans - over the ear instead of on the ear," Hu said. "A lot of people were requesting that."

Axent Wear is currently holding an Indiegogo campaign to raising money for its new headphones, Discovery News reported. The company has already beaten its goal of $250,000, raising over $930,000 in funding so far. Those who support the campaign are expected to receive their headphones in April 2015.

One pair of headphones is available for a pledge of $175 with a color of the backer's choice, SlashGear reported. All four of the headphones are available for $575, and backers can buy the multi-color version for $10,000.

Potential backers have 23 more days left to order their feline headphones.
