St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher continues to say that the team will play the hot hand at running back and disregard a traditional depth chart approach.

"We're gonna continue with the same thing," Fisher said Monday, according to ESPN. "I can't tell you who's starting this week."

"Fisher said the running back situation remains a week-to week thing, based in part on scheme and approach," St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas reiterated the coach's sentiment

Fisher can say all he wants about the running back committee; it still doesn't change the numbers. Mason led all Rams rushers in carries on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers with 19. In fact, Mason has 52 total touches over the Rams' last four games compared to only 28 for Benny Cunningham and just 18 for Zac Stacy. With that kind of disparity in workload, it's obvious that Mason is the starter in everything but name for St. Louis.

Mason has carried the ball 49 times for 222 yards (4.5 yards per carry average) and one touchdown in four games this season. The third-round rookie has emerged as a solid back in a struggling St. Louis offense. However, he's not concerned with his competition for touches.

"I prepare every day like my number is going to be called," Mason said, as quoted by ESPN. "Coming into the game, my number was called and I just do what I do every day in practice. I think of games as a practice with a lot of people watching."

The Rams will play the Arizona Cardinals' third ranked rushing defense this Sunday.
