Don't believe everything you read - starting with the rumors about Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne's marital problems.
In an interview with "Entertainment Weekly Canada," the 39-year-old rockstar said he finds the rumors about his marriage with the "Hello Kitty" singer "amusing." The couple's relationship has been subjected to divorce rumors in the recent weeks.
The Nickelback lead singer even admitted that his own father fell victim to the tabloid rumors.
"You know my dad calls me up and he's just like, 'I haven't slept in 2 days, what's going on?' I'm like, 'Dad you're not buying all this crap are you?' You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff. I find it very amusing," Kroeger said.
"When you get out of high school, and it's like 'Ugh, OK,'" he continued. "All that rumor crap. All that stuff that people say behind each other's backs is minuscule, pales in comparison to the world of, you know, celebrity or being married to a celebrity. That's high school multiplied exponentially. It's ridiculous."
"Wait, let's start a new rumor. I'm pregnant," he joked.
During the interview, the reporter noted that Kroeger was wearing his wedding ring. Kroeger replied to the comment by removing his wedding ring and slipping it back on saying, "They come off. And they go back on and then come off and then go back on."
In July, the couple, who married in July of 2013 in the south of France, celebrated their one-year anniversary, and Kroeger gifted his wife with a 17-carat diamond ring. However, the two have been noticeably absent from the spotlight for the past two months. In September, Lavigne celebrated her 30th birthday without Kroeger by her side.
Last week, a source told E! News that things are not good between Kroeger and Lavigne.
"Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out," the source added. "They don't like Chad, but she's already been through one painful divorce and they don't want to see her going through another unless there's no other option. Also, she and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug."
Kroeger and his band are currently promoting their next album, "No Fixed Address," set to hit stores on Nov. 17, and recently announced a 60-city North American tour scheduled for next year.
