An ex-drummer for the alternative rock band Cake was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for molesting a 3-year-old girl, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
Peter Ivan McNeal, 48, will also spend the rest of his life as a registered sex offender, according to the Los Angeles Times.
McNeal molested the toddler at a 2009 Thanksgiving party held at a Laurel Canyon residence he was staying at as a guest, Deputy District Attorney Elena Abramson said.
The LAPD investigated the incident and McNeal was tried, but the case ended in a hung jury. Another trial was held and McNeal was convicted in March 2013 on one count of oral copulation of a child 10 years or younger.
McNeal, who has also worked with Norah Jones and Mike Doughty, joined Cake in 2001 as a replacement for drummer Todd Roper, according to Billboard.com. McNeal left the band 2004.
Cake began in the Sacramento-area and rose to fame with its 1996 hit "The Distance."
