A suspect was brought who allegedly stabbed four people on an Amtrak train in Michigan was brought into custody Friday night.

Police received a dispatch call around 7 p.m. reporting a suspicious person on the train, Niles Police Chief Jim Millin told The Associated Press. He said when police arrived the attack had already begun and authorities stopped the 44-year-old suspect with a Taser.

The train was travelling from Chicago to Port Huron, Mich. The stabbing occurred in Niles, about 100 miles from Chicago.

It was an eerie and unexpected experience for the surrounding passengers.

Passenger Caitlin Cipri told the South Bend Tribune in Indiana that she realized the attack was happening when she heard the screams of one victim while she was packing her things to get off the train. She later witnessed the suspect stab two more people.

"It was terrifying and you don't think something like that is going to happen to you," Cipri said to the South Bound Tribune. "It's terrifying that things like this happen."

After police arrived at the scene, alternate transportation was provided for the train's 172 passengers, reported the AP.

Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods, said the Amtrak Police Department is helping Niles city police with its investigation.
