Another interesting tidbit to come out of this weekend's PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas is the news that a new "God of War" game is (most probably) in development.

The director of "God of War II" told a PlayStation Experience panel yesterday that Santa Monica Studio is indeed making another "God of War" game, though the studio appears to have backed away from that statement, at least on Twitter, in the time since, according to a report at IGN.

Here's the lowdown: Cory Barlog, in the "God of War" retrospective panel, said, "Yes, we are making another God of War." That's according to a tweet sent out by Santa Monica Studio, and has been since taken down. IGN, in attendance at the the panel, reported the same statement and added that Barlog didn't give any other details on this new title, except he said it isn't a prequel.

Sony Santa Monica did leave this tweet floating out in the ether, however.

If another "God of War" game is being developed, the news isn't too surprising; "God of War" continues one of Sony's preeminent franchises. Kratos is even making an appearance in PlayStation's version of "Shovel Knight," which will be released on that platform next year. The last "God of War" game was "Ascension," released in March 2013.
