CES 2015 has seen the debut of a number of new gadgets, among them Sony's new Walkman called the ZX2 for fans of high-resolution audio. It will sell for a whopping $1,199.99.

The ZX2, which resembles more of a smartphone than a music player, is able to provide this listening experience thanks to its S-Master HX processor, though headphones or a speaker that supports high-res audio will be required, according to Mashable.

Sony made sure to include Wi-Fi connectivity, and the Walkman is also NFC-enabled so it can connect to headphones, speakers and other devices much more easily.

The device, powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, allows users to download apps from Google Play, The Verge reported. There is also support for DSD, WAV, AIFF, FLAC and Apple Lossless, as well as for Bluetooth for wireless streaming.

Sony emphasized its interest of high-res audio during the ZX2's unveiling, referring to the device as "the fruit of continuous refinement in high audio quality technologies."

Other features of the ZX2 include a touch screen, 12GB memory, a microSD slot for supporting extra storage and a battery that allows users to play music for up to 60 hours, Mashable reported.

The release date of the new Walkman has yet to be revealed.
