Law enforcement in Florida have captured the young Kentucky couple whose multi-state crime spree earned them the name "Bonnie and Clyde" from the media, according to CNN.
U.S. Marshals found 18-year-old Dalton Hayes and his 13-year-old girlfriend Cheyenne Phillips around midnight on Jan. 18 asleep in the 2001 Toyota Tundra reported stolen in Henry County, Ga.
"The vehicle was surrounded by law enforcement, and both Hayes and Phillips were taken into custody without further incident," the Grayson County Sheriff's Office said in a statement obtained by CNN.
The couple will be extradited back to Kentucky. They will face multiple felony charges after they allegedly stole several vehicles and pilfered checks throughout the South.
Hayes and Phillips fled their home in western Kentucky on Jan. 3. Hayes was scheduled to attend court on Jan. 5 to learn if a grand jury had indicted him on charges of burglary and theft stemming from an arrest late last year, according to USA Today.
The two teen outlaws first stole a truck from a resident's garage in the next town over. They didn't get far before they crashed through a fence and then fled into the woods, according to Wave 3 News out of Louisville, Kentucky.
The runaways escaped the woods and stole a red Toyota Tacoma with an unloaded gun inside. They were next spotted at a Walmart in Manning, South Carolina still driving the stolen Tacoma.
A resident from Henry County, Georgia then called 911 to report that he had spotted the stolen truck at an abandoned residence, according to ABC News. Another resident reported his silver 2001 Toyota Tundra, which had two handguns inside, stolen from his driveway within walking distance of the abandoned Tacoma.
