A frozen chicken-filled truck crashed into another filled with bees on a California highway Monday morning, sending bees flying and spewing cooked chicken everywhere.

The big-rig was headed westbound on Interstate 10 in Coachella with its chicken load when it apparently collided with a truck carrying bee crates, California Highway Patrol told WDEF. The chicken truck went up in flames, scorching its frozen cargo and leaving charred chicken all over the highway.

The other truck's wheels also caught fire and a bee swarm took over the area, forcing officials to shut down the westbound lane for several hours, CHP officials told the Los Angeles Times.

"Some of the bee crates have broken open and bees everywhere," according to the CHP incident log of the 7 a.m. crash.

But the smoke from the fire kept the bees relatively calm until an expert arrived to disperse the swarm.

The driver of the chicken truck escaped with minor injuries before the vehicle was incinerated, according to WDEF. The other driver also survived.
