The Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres shocked the hockey world when they enacted a blockbuster trade earlier this week that sent a bevy of NHL picks, prospects and players across international lines.

It was a deal that will have far-reaching implications for both franchises and left a hefty silence across the league in its wake.

Despite the monumental transaction, both teams remain active in the NHL trade market.

The Sabres continue their quest to tank and sell off any and all pieces of value, while the Jets and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff have their sights set firmly on a playoff berth and meaningful spring hockey.

To that end, Cheveldayoff continues to scour the market for forward help.

"The Winnipeg Jets aren't done yet either. Obviously Kevin Cheveldayoff is still in the market. He wants to add a forward. Another top-9 if he can. Even better, a top-6 and he has some flexibility financially to do that," said TSN's Darren Dreger on a recent episode of Insider Trading, per NicholsOnHockey.com.

Even before the Evander Kane saga took an unfortunate turn, ending Wednesday in his trade to the Sabres along with Zach Bogosian in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, a first-round pick and more, Cheveldayoff was rumored to be seeking a top-6 or top-9 forward to help the team in their playoff push.

While the addition of Stafford, a big third-liner, helps to an extent, it won't be enough if the Jets are serious about making postseason noise.

There's another layer to the trade rumors surrounding Winnipeg and Cheveldayoff, though, according to Dreger.

"Teams are already calling and asking about the availability of Tyler Myers. He just acquired Tyler Myers from the Buffalo Sabres, and teams are wondering if Cheveldayoff would maybe flip Myers for that forward that he's looking for," said Dreger. "It's not going to happen - at least not in-season. They want to make sure Tyler Myers is as good a fit as they think he will be in Winnipeg."

Myers and Stafford have only had the opportunity to play in one game with the Jets and the NHL's trade deadline is a few short weeks away, so it's beyond improbable to think that Cheveldayoff and coach Paul Maurice will get a good enough feel for Myers' fit with the organization between now and then.

Myers will be a part of the Jets for the immediate future. What happens come draft time, though, is anyone's guess.
