An Indian bride rejected her husband-to-be at their wedding after finding out he had epilepsy and then married one of the wedding guests instead, according to The Times of India.

Jugal Kishore, of Moradabad, was about to place garlands on his bride at their traditional Indian wedding in the state of Uttar Pradesh when he suffered an epileptic fit and dropped to the ground.

Upon seeing her 25-year-old fiancé suddenly have a seizure, the bride, Indira, expressed outrage at Kishore for not telling her about his disorder. But instead of going through with the wedding, the 23-year-old turned to one of the guests and said she would marry him instead, The Times of India reported Tuesday.

The new groom, reportedly named Harpal Singh, turned out to be the brother-in-law of Indira's sister. After hesitating for a moment, Singh accepted Indira's proposal.

Kishore received treatment after his family rushed him to a hospital. He returned to his wedding in the town of Rampur only to find out his bride married someone else, the newspaper reported.

The groom and his family pleaded with Indira to change her mind. But when that failed a brawl erupted and outraged wedding guests allegedly armed themselves with spoons and plates to force Indira to marry Kishore.

Police showed up and detained some of the guests, Officer Ram Khiladi Solanki, of the police station in Milak, told The Times of India.

Kishore filed a police report after the incident but ended up retracting it.

"Since the bride is already married now, what can anyone do?" Solanki told the BBC. "So the families have resolved the matter and the complaint has been withdrawn."
