Training camp began on Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys. Two pieces of news from the first day were that Tony Romo is overweight, and DeMarcus Ware is happy with the 4-3 switch and believes it will keep him healthier, Pro Football Talk reports.

Romo, who underwent surgery to remove a cyst from his back, was officially listed as 236 pounds at training camp - six pounds heavier than he's ever been listed.

The Cowboys, however, aren't worried. Coach Jason Garrett said Romo is only one pound overweight, and he attributed it to Romo's recovery from surgery.

"I don't want to get into the details of what his playing weight is supposed to be, but he's right around it," Garrett said, according to PFT. "He'll tell you right now, he just has to continue do [sic] the conditioning stuff necessary. Coming off an injury, that's always a big concern. You're trying to get the injury healed, but you got to make sure the condition is right.

"He's worked very hard at. He'll continue to do that that throughout camp."

Romo told reporters he weighs between 227 and 230 pounds.

Ware, meanwhile, believes the Cowboy's switch to a 4-3 defense will keep him healthier and playing for a longer time.

"It's a little bit easier transition; now you are putting your hand in the dirt and you are pass rushing 99, we'll say 94 percent of the time," Ware told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, via PFT. "At outside linebacker there are lot more moving parts and to me it's easier to get hurt. At defensive end, you're not moving as much. It's more technique. You're using savviness to make plays.

"I think being more fundamentally sound should keep me healthier during the season. I feel like this should extend my career."

After playing through shoulder problems last year, Ware had surgery in the offseason.

Dallas needs Ware, one of the league's premier pass-rushers, to be healthy - the team has already lost defensive end Tyrone Crawford to an apparent Achilles tear, and Anthony Spencer was pulled from drills when his knee flared up.
