When rapper Chinx was killed in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning, it was unclear who may have committed the crime but now a connection to a previous death may have been made.

Eight years ago, rapper Stack Bundles was mysteriously murdered in a very similar scenario.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told the New York Daily News that, "They were friends, Stack Bundles and Chinx. They were friends, so we're looking at all hip-hop angles."

Rayquan Elliott, also known as Stack Bundles, was shot near the lobby of his apartment building in Queens on June 11, 2007, nearly eight years ago.

The similarities between the two deaths seem too coincidental to ignore. The rappers grew up together in Queens and even had their own hip-hop collective, Riot Squad. They also both drove Porsches and were killed early in the morning following local performances.

At the time of Bundles' murder, Chinx was serving time in jail for cases involving robbery and crack cocaine.

A few other connections between the two shootings have been made, including the rappers' connections to big names like French Montana and Jim Jones.

Because of Chinx's connection to Montana, police are a little concerned about Montana's on-again-off-again relationship with Khloe Kardashian.

When asked if they're concerned about the connection to the reality star, Boyce replied, "We certainly are. There's always the issue of retaliation in these things."
