"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will officially be present at the San Diego Comic Con this summer.
The December release will have its own panel and booth at the San Diego Convention Center's iconic Hall H on Friday July 10, StarWars.com confirms. As of now, LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams are the only people involved with the film that are confirmed to be attending. However, that roster is guaranteed to grow as it has been promised that the panel will also feature "special guests" as well as a "special look" at Episode VII.
Those behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" decided to skip last year's San Diego Comic Con as the film was still in production. It was rumored that LucasFilm wouldn't be making an appearance at this summer's outing either. But with the film now in the latter stages of post-production (and likely ready for a few sneak peeks of finished footage), Comic Con appears to be the perfect time to get the hype train going.
But what will be presented at the event? Similar to the fate of Boba Fett, no one knows for sure. It's possible that several cast members of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" could be brought on stage, mixing the new generation of characters with the old. It's safe to say that at least a few frames of exclusive footage will also be screened to howling applause and good 'ol nerd tears everywhere.
So get excited, "Star Wars" fans. The ride is just beginning.
