Samsung has officially launched the long-speculated dual screen android flip phone in China.
Just when we thought the old school flip phones are out of fashion, a new Samsung SCH-W789 Hennessy Android flip phone has been unveiled in the Chinese market. The new smartphone, code named Hennessy with model number Samsung SCH-W789, was listed on a Chinese "Blog Of Mobile" site.
Most earlier reports got the specs of the smartphone correct. The new phone features inner and outer display of same size measuring 3.5-inch. Both screens boast 320x480 pixel screen resolution, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Young.
Hennessey is equipped with a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with a LED flash and powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM. Samsung added a new support of both CDMA and GSM bands in its new smartphone. But the flip phone does not include the latest Android 4.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean (of course, considering it is targeting the entry level smartphone market), but it runs on 4.1 Android Jelly Bean, which is likely to get an upgrade later. The device supports microSD cards for expandable memory. It sports a 1,500 mAh battery. The traditional Bluetooth, USB 2.0, GPS, and WLAN connectivity will be supported.
The site reports that the model is currently available in a classy Luxury Gold color, no other color variants have been revealed yet.
Samsung plans on expanding its flip phone series with its rumored Galaxy Folder flip phone. It is likely to include a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with 480x800 pixel screen resolution. The Galaxy Folder is rumored to be powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 400 with 2 GB RAM and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
So far there have been no reports suggesting the global availability and the pricing of both phones.
