A freight train derailed on a bridge over a Houston highway Thursday, while one car fell along the Old Katy Road below.
The Houston Fire Department said that no injuries were reported from the accident, which occurred on Thusday around 8:30 a.m. CDT. Officials added that none of the cargo was spilled, the Associated Press reported.
The train derailed while it was hauling freights, the Kansas City Southern Railway Company said. No hazardous materials were spilled during the accident.
Two crew members, two locomotives and 84 cars were aboard the train, which was bound from Beaumont to Kendleton.
At least one locomotive and nine cars derailed, including two that fell from the bridge, the company said in a statement, AP reported.
The Texas Department of Transportation has closed the four-lane highway in both directions due to the accident, which is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the derailment.
