NAACP Leader Rachel Dolezal Lied About Being Black, Parents Claim

One of the most well-known activists of civil rights has reportedly been lying about her ethnicity for years.

The parents of Rachel Dolezal, the leader of the NAACP Washington chapter, has claimed that their daughter had been grossly representing herself as an African-American woman to the public.

They then presented evidence to the Coeur d'Alene Press about her true heritage, such as a birth certificate and childhood photos that showed she was a pasty child with blonde hair, a stark contrast to the dark skin and curly hair she currently has.

"It is very disturbing that she has become so dishonest," said Dolezal's mother, Ruthanne Dolezal.

Ruthanne added that the family's ancestry is Swedish, German and Czech, with an added touch of Native American heritage, according to the Washington Times.

Besides serving as the head of the NAACP Washington chapter since earlier this year, Dolezal also currently teaches Africana studies at Eastern Washington University.

She is also the head of the newly established police oversight commission, according to the New York Daily News.
