‘Game of Thrones’ RUMORS: George R.R. Martin Developing 3 New Series Concepts?

Fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" and author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series will have mixed reactions to the following news.

Martin is reportedly developing three new television shows for HBO and Cinemax. The author confirmed these new projects in a recent blog post discussing his busy schedule. It was rumored that he is keen on producing an HBO series called "Captain Cosmos" about a television sci-fi writer set in 1949, with a pilot script written by Michael Cassutt.

Martin did not comment on the specifics of the new series or the other two shows currently being developed, but he did assuage the concerns of his readers by noting that he is plugging away at the sixth book in his series, "The Winds of Winter." However, "Winter" is not expected until 2016 at the earliest.

The last book in the series, "A Dance with Dragons," was released back in 2011. Since then, fans have expressed their displeasure with his slow writing pace and have complained about HBO's "Game of Thrones" spoiling certain storylines.

The season five finale of "Game of Thrones" will air this Sunday night on HBO.
