When Dane Grant showed up on set to work as Tom Hardy's temporary stunt double in "Mad Max: Fury Road," he never though that he would find the woman of his dreams.
While viewers were hoping Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron's characters would end up together in the action flick, behind the scenes, their stunt doubles were becoming quite close . . . literally.
During a particularly close-quarters fight scene, the pair really bonded, according to Yahoo.
"So the two of us were doing this - dare I say - very S&M-type fight, it's a love/hate mixture between these characters. They're very close, there's chains, they're holding each other in very intimate positions, and the longer we were doing it the more we're kind of eyeing each other up," Dane, 37, revealed.
But Dane also admitted that he noticed 39-year-old Dayna, Theron's stunt double, way before their scenes together.
"I remember that first day meeting her in the stunt rehearsal gym. She stood out for all the right reasons," he said.
After weeks spent filling in for the Hollywood stars in the Namib Desert, the couple could not deny their instant chemistry.
"I saw Dayna straight away - she was the only girl from New Zealand and she stood out like a sore thumb. I saw her bag with her name on it and my opening line was literally, 'Hi. I see you're Dayna. I'm Dane.' That was about it."
Three years later, and the stunt performer couple is now married and living in New Zealand. They have a one-year-old son named Ryder, and they are operating the NZ Stunt School, which Dayna founded in 2010, news.com.au reported.
"We've said it before and it's quite cheesy, but it really was love at first sight. While we were punching each other we were falling for each other - quite rapidly," Dane said.
Cheers to a real-life happy ending!
