A submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is hailed as a new anti-ship rocket and "another fresh milestone" by North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
The "highly intelligent" rockets were deployed at naval units where they tested three short-range missiles with a range of nearly 100 kilometers (62 miles) off its east coast.
Jong-Un "noted with great pleasure that it marked another fresh milestone in bolstering up the Juche (self-reliance)-based naval force," AFP reported.
"Ultra-modern strike means of Korean style have been studied and developed one after another recently to completely contain the hostile forces," he added.
The test was the latest after North Korea claimed on May 9 that it was able to successfully test fire an SLBM. The photos of the test became controversial, as experts questioned their authenticity, speculating that they were digitally manipulated.
"North Korea appears to be developing new missiles that would replace its old Soviet-designed anti-ship missiles," South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min-Seok said, NDTV reported.
