Dewayne Coleman, better known as MC Supreme, the rapper who had a hit with "Black In America" in the 1990s, died in a car crash in Malibu, Calif., Saturday night, according to the Associated Press.
Coleman, 47, was killed when a pickup truck slammed into the parked Honda Civic he was sitting in with a woman on the shoulder of the Pacific Coast Highway, and the car rolled into an embankment above the beach, Variety reports.
"The pickup then rolled into another parked car on the shoulder with two passengers in it, both of whom are uninjured," reports Variety.
The driver of the pickup, Philip Torries II, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter; he sustained minor injuries, according to Variety.
MC Supreme's "Black In America" was included on the "We're All In The Same Gang" compilation album released in 1990 by the West Coast Rap All-Stars, according to Billboard.
Coleman was committed to working with young people and steering them away from gangs, Coleman's sister, Irene, told City News Service, via Billboard.
