An Austrian brothel is offering free sex and booze as its owner protests against rising taxes, according to the Associated Press.
"We're not paying any more tax!" says an announcement on the brothel's website, according to The Telegraph. "From now on: Free entry! Free drinks! Free sex!"
The owner of the brothel, Pascha, is Herman "Pascha" Müller, the "red light district king," according to European news outlet The Local. He no longer wants to be "the tax office's pimp," he told the tabloid newspaper Kronen Zeitung, according to The Local.
In Germany and Austria, prostitution is legal and brothels are legitimate, taxable businesses, noted The Telegraph.
Müller, born in Germany, runs a brothel chain which has locations in both neighboring countries, according to The Telegraph, which points out that the offer is only good at the Salzburg location.
"In the past decade alone I've paid nearly €5m in taxes in Salzburg alone," he said, according to The Telegraph. "And they want more and more, instead of cracking down on illegal street and apartment prostitution."
The brothel owner plans to keep the free offer going for four to eight weeks; drinks are on the house, while Müller says he is paying the prostitutes' usual rate out of his own finances, according to The Local.
The offer "would be offset by any profits made in his other establishments, and ... Pasha would not be liable for any tax during the special offer," he said, The Local reported.
Officials check his establishment every 14 days, and "he rejected any allegations that he is involved in tax evasion or human trafficking," according to The Local.
