Bethany Hamilton is a new mommy!
The professional surfer and her husband Adam Dirks welcomed a baby boy named Tobias on June 1. Hamilton introduced her newborn to the world via social media on Monday.
"Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world. Born June 1st, 7.9 lbs. and 21" Long. He is named after his great grandpa Tobias meaning "The goodness of God." Adam and I so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him! #stokedmomma," the 25-year-old captioned a photo of herself holding her newborn alongside her husband.
Hamilton, who lost her left arm at age 13 in a shark attack, announced her pregnancy in a video posted on her official YouTube account in February this year.
"We have a little surprise for you...baby on board!" she said. Adding, "I'm about 22 weeks, which is about halfway there. It's been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we're gonna be parents. Life's kinda gonna be changing and [we're] kinda just starting to prep for bringing a new little being into the world. It's all really exciting."
In the video, Hamilton opened up about parenting her newborn with one arm, saying, "I just adjust and adapt to different things, especially things that are a lot easier with two arms, and I think there's going to be things that are going to be very challenging with one arm but I'll just have to find my own way to take care of the baby," she said.
Hamilton's experience inspired the 2011 film "Soul Surfer," starring actress Annasophia Robb and country singer Carrie Underwood.
