Ravens Cheerleader Guilty: Molly Shattuck, Former NFL Cheerleader, Pleads Guilty To Rape Of 15-Year-Old Boy

Molly Shattuck, former cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the rape of a 15-year-old boy. The boy was a classmate of Shattuck's son at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md.

Shattuck's plea agreement was for a fourth-degree rape, which may land her up to 15 years in prison when she receives her sentence. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 21.

Fourth-degree rape, according to Delaware law, includes sexual intercourse with penetration with a person below 16 years of age. The sexual assault occurred in a rented vacation home in Delaware, according to the Associated Press.

The former cheerleader pleaded guilty days before she was to be tried on two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact and three counts of providing alcohol to minors. Because of Shattuck's guilty plea, other charges against her including third-degree rape were dropped, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Shattuck, 48, will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years in Delaware. Maryland officials have yet to determine if she also needs to register in Maryland, where she lives.

The victim said Shattuck initiated an inappropriate relationship with him that ended with sexual contact on Labor Day weekend.

According to court documents, Shattuck started to flirt with the 15-year-old boy in May 2014 by posting comments on his Instagram account. In one instance, Shattuck got him out of school, took him to the back seat of her Escalade and kissed him.

The statutory rape happened when she invited the boy to spend Labor Day weekend with her and her children in a vacation rental home at Bethany Beach. She reportedly gave alcohol to three boys, including the victim, who were not yet of legal drinking age. Afterward, she had sexual contact with the victim, according to Fox Sports.

A few months before the controversy erupted, Shattuck had just come out of separation from her ex-husband Mayo Shattuck, former CEO of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and present chairman of Exelon Corporation, which now owns Constellation. She had been trying to paint an image of herself as an independent woman, devoted mother and charity worker, Fox Sports reported.

The plan backfired and her image was suddenly destroyed. Her divorce was finalized a few days after she was indicted in November, adding an additional blow to the challenges she was facing at the time.

Shattuck became the oldest NFL cheerleader in 2005 when she tried out for the Ravens at age 38 and was chosen for the squad. She served as a Ravens cheerleader for two years, after which she worked as coach for six years, according to ABC News.
