Another juror from the Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting trial was relieved of their duties on Wednesday.
Arapahoe County District Judge Carlos Samour dismissed the female juror because she had "not been entirely open" about knowing a survivor of the shooting that testified earlier in the trial, according to The New York Daily News.
"I don't believe you have been completely forthcoming and candid with me," Samour told her, who became the fifth juror removed from the case.
After the most recent juror dismal, 14 women and five men remain on the case. Just last week, three other jurors were removed from the jury for gaining knowledge off a prosecutor's controversial tweet of the case. The issue was brought to Samour's attention by a juror who was not dismissed, although the defense did fight for her to be removed. She told the judge she "heard a juror talking about the trial on two previous occasions," and was visibly distraught while disclosing the information to Samour.
A fourth juror was dismissed earlier this week for getting emotional in front of fellow jurors. The brother-in-law of the juror was recently a shooting victim.
James Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the 2012 shooting in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater that left 12 dead and 70 wounded.
Because of the high profile nature of the case, Samour deliberately made sure 12 alternates were chosen, which is more than usual.
