Warner Bros. is going to have to bring their A game when San Diego Comic-Con 2015 rolls around next month. Last year, director Zack Snyder provided fans with their first glimpse of Wonder Woman in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." But with "Avengers: Age of Ultron" racking up bank at the box office, the studio will have to go a bit bigger to further excite fans for the 2016 super hero showdown.
Jesse Eisenerg, who plays Lex Luthor, confirmed to Collider that he will be present at Comic-Con and likely on stage for a full hour. Fans should expect he and director Zack Snyder to talk at length about the new film while also hopefully debuting some new footage.
In the same interview, Eisenberg went out of his way to praise the films script which was penned by Oscar-winning writer Chris Terrio ("Argo"), who reworked David S. Goyer's ("Man of Steel") original screenplay.
"I like what this writer does, this guy Chris Terrio," Eisenberg said. "He wrote this movie we did and I just think he's so great. He's such a good writer. I like what he does with characters, I like what he does with wordplay and cleverness. I like anything he writes."
Terrio certainly had his work cut out for him after the mixed reception of "Man of Steel." This new film has to deal with the aftermath of Superman's battle in Metropolis while also introducing a handful of new characters including Eisenberg's Luthor, Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. On top of that, "Dawn of Justice" has to lay the ground work for, what else, the upcoming "Justice League" films.
The film's official plot summary told fans what they already knew: that a "new threat" will force Batman and Superman to put aside their difference for the greater good. Although we don't know who exactly this new threat is - Is it Luthor? Is it Doomsday? - we do know that it will lead to an early alliance between our two protagonists.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
