Freudian Slip: Does Obama Feel Like A Prisoner Inside The White House?

President Obama's Freudian gaffe Thursday night at a fundraising event indicates he may feel like a prisoner in the White House.

"We should be reforming our criminal justice system in such a way that we are not incarcerating nonviolent offenders in ways that renders them incapable of getting a job after they leave office," Obama remarked while speaking to about 250 people at a fundraiser hosted by actor-filmmaker Tyler Perry in his Beverly Hills, Calif. home, The Hill reported.

The audience erupted into laughter and applause, and Obama quickly admitted his mistake.

"Little slip of the tongue there. Little Freudian slip," he said. "Tyler is going to give me a job once I leave."

Obama then reminisced on President Bill Clinton's 1993 joke, delivered while giving a tour, that the White House was "the crown jewel of the federal penal system."

Guests at the event paid the Democratic National Committee anywhere from $2,500 to $33,400 for the chance to hear the president talk.

In attendance were "Mad Men" actress January Jones and show creator Matthew Weiner, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, and former NBA player Jason Collins, according to USA Today.

Obama also addressed the mass killings at the historic black church in Charleston, S.C., calling for his supporters to mobilize against gun violence.

"When I ran in 2008, I in fact did not say I would fix it. I said we could fix it," Obama told the audience, according to The Washington Post. "I didn't say, 'Yes, I can.' I said, 'Yes, we can.'"

"If you're dissatisfied that every few months we have a mass shooting in this country killing innocent people, then I need you to mobilize and organize a constituency that says this is not normal and we are going to change it and put pressure to elect people who insist on that change," he said to sustained applause, the Associated Press reported. "If you're concerned about racial polarization in this country, it's nice to have dialogues around race, but me making a good speech - and I've made some good speeches on the subject - that's not going to solve the problem. What are you doing to reach out in your own community?"
