Presumably one of the songs considered for her fourth album "Demi," singer Demi Lovato's latest rock ballad features soaring vocals and an epic soundscape, fitting for the soundtrack to the upcoming film "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," MTV reports, and you can listen to the brand new track here!
After a number of previews that have titillated Lovato fans, the song has finally been released along with the "Mortal Instruments" soundtrack in some European countries, while American fans will have to wait until Aug. 20 to get their hands on an official copy.
The highly anticipated new film is an adaption of the popular Young Adult book series of the same name, written by Cassandra Clare and based on the story of a young girl who discovers that her bloodline is of half-angel warlocks that protect the world from demons. While the book has hints of romance, it mainly focuses on the journey of fifteen-year old Clary Fray as she discovers more about the war between warlocks and demons and searches for her missing mother.
Lovato's new song, "Heart by Heart," will be featured in a key scene in the film, and the singer is excited for fans of the series to hear it.
"I really hope it sets the tone of that scene right, and that it's well done," Lovato said in a recent interview, adding that she hopes everyone likes it.
She's been asked before whether or not she really has a thing for hearts, as her other singles include "Heart Attack" and "Give Your Heart a Break," but Lovato has ensured us that it's merely a coincidence. Nonetheless, the singer and "X-Factor" star clearly has a knack for writing and singing about love and heartbreak.
Speaking of "The X-Factor," Lovato will reprise her role as a judge and mentor on the upcoming third season, which will premiere on FOX Sept. 11-12 at 8/7c. Joining her will be fellow judges Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio, who Lovato has formed strong bonds with.
And if you're craving even more new Demi Lovato music, you'll be happy to know that she's featured on a bonus track from Ariana Grande's upcoming album "Yours Truly," a duet entitled "Direct Contact." The new album is set for release on Sept. 3.
