Tiger Woods shot 10-over par during the first round of the U.S. Open, but a banner reading "cheater" that flew over the course probably made his day even worse.
An unknown individual paid for the banner to follow Woods and his group as they competed at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. on Thursday.
The 39-year-old pro golfer faced a cheating scandal while married to his first wife, Elin Nordegren. He also reportedly cheated on his last girlfriend, U.S. Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, who he split amicably with on May 3.
No one has come forward to take credit for the high-flying prank or confirm that the banner was intended for Woods. SB Nation pointed out that Patrick Reed was accused of cheating during tournaments while at the University of Georgia, but Reed finished his round before the plane showed up.
Woods's greatest blunder on Thursday came on the eighth hole when he tried to slash a ball out of the rough and his club slipped out of his hands. He also missed several short putts, which combined with a lot of bad shots led to his poor first round score.
After the second round of play, the three-time Grand Slam winner sits near the bottom of the leaderboard at 13-over.
