Highest Paid DJs: Forbes Lists Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia Make Millions (VIDEO)

Forbes has released their annual list of the world's highest-paid DJs-and it looks like getting on the ones and twos pays well.

Electronic music has soared in popularity over the past few years, and no one better proves this surge in listenership than the number one most paid-up DJ on the list: Calvin Harris.

"The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years," he told Forbes. "I happened to be in the right place at the right time."

Harris, who is most famous for his tracks, "I Need Your Love" and "Sweet Nothing" reportedly raked in a cool $46 million-that's more than Jay-Z or Katy Perry managed to make this year.

With over 70 shows from 2011 on, and a songwriting deal with chart-topping artists like Rihanna, it's no surprise that the Scot who went gold with his debut album "I Created Disco," earned such a hefty figure.

In close second comes Tiesto, a Dutch DJ who is a legend within the electronic music scene. He's been working the turntables for decades, and played more than 140 shows in 2012.

His gross earnings topped out at $32 million-probably due in part to his residency at Las Vegas club Hakkasan.

"I got the offer to play in Las Vegas...They made me a great proposal, not just the money but also what they're going to do there, the biggest club in the world," he said.

David Guetta, with a $30 million yearly paycheck, takes the third spot. He's got a sweet deal with Ibiza's Pacha club, spinning his electro house hits like "Sexy B****" and "When Love Takes Over" every week. He's worked with such pop stars as The Black Eyed Peas and Usher, as well as spinning for Rihanna's world tour.

Swedish House Mafia came in at number four, with $25 million. Deadmau5 made around $21 million at the number five spot.

Other DJs included on the list? "Levels" artists Avicii, Skrillex, Diplo and DJ Pauly D.
