Def Leppard gutairst Vivian Campbell will be forced to miss the opening dates of the band's summer tour due to his cancer returning.
"I'm saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned," Campbell wrote on his Facebook page. "However, I'm beyond consolation that it's return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while. I'm still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon. My apologies."
Campbell was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer found in white blood cells, in March 2013. The news comes just three days before the rock band was due to set off on its summer tour. Trixter guitarist Steve Brown will fill in for Campbell until his return, according to EddieTrunk.com
A rep for the band said in a statement that Campbell will only miss the first few dates, and that his treatment will be tailored to fit the bands touring schedule. The guitarist joined Def Leppard in 1992 after stints with Dio and Whitesnake.
